It\u2019s unreal, uncanny, makes you wonder if something is wrong, it\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dev.xtemos.com\/mars\/blog\/2019\/02\/08\/hi-tech-glasses-offer-alternative-to-bifocals\/#$\">seems to seek your attention<\/a>\u00a0for all the wrong reasons.\u00a0<i>Usually, we prefer the real thing, wine without sulfu<\/i>r based preservatives, real butter, not margarine, and so we\u2019d like our layouts and designs to be filled with real words, with thoughts that count.<\/p><p><em>The toppings you may chose for that TV dinner pizza slice when you forgot to shop for foods, the paint you may slap on your face to impress the new boss is your business. But what about your daily bread? Design comps, layouts, wireframes\u2014will your clients accept that you go about things the facile way?\u00a0Websites in professional use templating systems. Commercial publishing platforms and content management systems ensure that you can show different text.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f1e0390 elementor-widget elementor-widget-xts_blockquote\" data-id=\"f1e0390\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"xts_blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\" xts-textalign-center wp-block-quote is-style-large\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"\" data-elementor-setting-key=\"blockquote\">\n\t\t\t\tThe most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. To short sentences, to many headings, images too large for the proposed design, or too small, or they fit in but it looks iffy for reasons the folks.<\/p><p>Typographers of yore didn&#8217;t come up with the concept of dummy copy because people thought that content is inconsequential window dressing, only there to be used by designers who can\u2019t be bothered to read. Lorem Ipsum is needed because words matter, a lot. Just fill up a page with draft copy about the client\u2019s business and they will actually read it and comment on it. They will be drawn to it, fiercely.<\/p><h3>The cult Korean brand is devoted to &#8220;weird beauty&#8221;.<\/h3><p>The biggest optical revelation of recent seasons has been the arrival of teeny tiny sunglasses, often positioned far down the bridge of the nose (as with the Hadids) and thus rendered almost useless in defense of the sun. That being said, Prada made a very compelling case for them on their SS18 runway \u2013 and Kanye even emailed Kim earlier this year explaining that: \u201cYou cannot wear big glasses anymore. It\u2019s all about tiny little glasses.\u201d Between the two of them.<\/p><p>If that\u2019s what you think how bout the other way around? How can you evaluate content without design? No typography, no colors, no layout, no styles, all those things that convey the important signals that go beyond the mere textual, hierarchies of information, weight, emphasis, oblique stresses, priorities, all those subtle cues that also have visual and emotional appeal to the reader. But what about your daily bread? Design comps, layouts, wireframes\u2014will your clients accept that you go about things the facile way? Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever.<\/p><p>You begin with a text, you sculpt information, you chisel away what&#8217;s not needed, you come to the point, make things clear, add value, you&#8217;re a content person, you like words. Design is no afterthought, far from it, but it comes in a deserved second. Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox, as things happen, not always the way you like it, not always in the preferred order.<\/p><h3>A Client That&#8217;s Unhappy For A Reason<\/h3><p>You made all the required mock ups for commissioned layout, got all the approvals, built a tested code base or had them built, you decided on a content management system, got a license for it or adapted open source software for your client&#8217;s needs. Then the question arises: where&#8217;s the content? Not there yet? That&#8217;s not so bad, there&#8217;s dummy copy to the rescue. But worse, what if the fish doesn&#8217;t fit in the can, the foot&#8217;s to big for the boot? Or to small? To short sentences, to many headings, images too large for the proposed design, or too small, or they fit in but it looks iffy for reasons the folks in the meeting can&#8217;t quite tell right now, but they&#8217;re unhappy, somehow.<\/p><p>If that&#8217;s what you think how bout the other way around? How can you evaluate content without design? No typography, no colors, no layout, no styles, all those things that convey the important signals that go beyond the mere textual, hierarchies of information, weight, emphasis, oblique stresses, priorities, all those subtle cues that also have visual and emotional appeal to the reader.
